I’ve been watching a lot of Programming tutorials lately and this is my impressions on building ubuntu App. YEAY its in Python… BOO its only in ubuntu lolz.
PRO Versatility of Python Ok, what is exciting is that its in python and a programming with an Easy Graphics User Interface. That means I don’t have to turn on Python to activate this app. Also many bonus points for it being Python since I want to really move towards python exclusively since I have limited time and so much to achieve: 3d Graphics (blender), Micro controllers, and various other projects.
PRO Easiness of Python I’ve seen how it is to program in Java and this is WAAAAAAAAAY easier. I’ve been watcing Buck’s Python Tutorials and its really hard as compared to Ubuntu Apps. This is the only tutorial I’ve found by Jono Bacon and the only one i’ve checked in Yoube.
CON as I’ve said, there is not so many tutorials and when I check the Ubuntu Website it saying that the Language for Ubuntu Apps making is QML. I’m confused with this because when i check out Quickly on wikipedia its still a Application builder that uses python.
CON Not supported I have a bad feeling Quickly will not make apps for Ubuntu Touch, instead Ubuntu Apps Development is something separate and confusing with all that I’ve been researching. If thats the case, I may be building an App for an “obsolete” platform.
I want to build it on something I own and tinker with when I’m bored. I want it on my phone as I try to brain storm how to improve it and have it with me when I’m trying to solve problems.
All in all I have a long way to go. I should try to finish 12-18 Android Tutorial Videos in a week, being able to follow the instructions while I make my own app while doing the exercises I find online. Good thing there are many exercises to be found for Android and that is a good thing.
Java may be harder, but at least there are more people freely teaching and getting people to learn.
I will be documenting my learning experience here on this blog. I will have little posts on my progress. So hopefully you are not annoyed as I celebrate every little milestone and show everybody how shallow and petty I am with such a small achievement.
