Ubuntu Studies.

I’m back using Ubuntu and I’ve missed learning and tinkering. Lazada (online buying of Chinese goods and components) has made it easier for me to make time to study various IT concepts and execute them at home.

Creating a RAID 1. I need to backup my Ubuntu ISO Image in a RAID 01 1TB paired drives. Why? Well to learn to set up RAID and so that I can be sure that my back up is not error-prone.

  1. Check my Bios settings if a Raid Configuration is allowed. If Not check how else to set this up. Explore my Bios settings. 
  2. Purchase a Dual Drive Kit. 400php for the Drive Kit. 
  3. Purchase a 2nd 1TB.  
    1.  set this up. 
  4.  Do this Again if Successful to have a total of 2TB of RAID worth 5,000php
  5. Learn to Make these Files Accessible over Network. 
    1. With my Phone. 
    2. With my Laptop. 
    3. and in the Future, Boot diskless. 

Ubuntu ISO Image Backup. UBuntu is a bit less stable than Windows 10. I think its the variability of the hardware and drivers. Anyway this means I need to have a way to BACKUP an image of by current UBUNTU settings. The end goal is that I back up as ISO images incrementally. When I want to restore a ISO Image backup, I know how to “resurrect” any system.

  1. Learn to use Clonezilla and backup my Bootdrive in the 1TB RAID drive. 
  2. Learn to Run the Clone Drive in Virtual Box as proof. 
  3. Try to backup this 120GB Windows 7 bootdrive. 
  4. Try to run the Ubuntu Boot Drive in this Lenovo Z50-70 as proof that I can transfer my Ubuntu Settings to any computer. This is going to be complicated and has many steps. It assumes:
    1. I know how to Create customizable Bootable ISO image.

    2. I know how to access the RAID drive when the bootdisk gets corrupted. 
    3. I know how to transfer the bootable iso Image from the RAID to a Drive.

Long term Goals

  1. Play with Virtual Box and Try Various Distros. 
  2. Backup my Ubuntu and Try the Various Distros and create an Incremental Backup ISO image of that Distro. 
  3. Mini Datacenter – server, router, switch, NAS, etc…
