THE SIMPLEST team skill I’ve figured out is Divide and Conquer with Pairing. Pair up and Coordinate very well – then divide the work. Then for every team of Work Pair-up and divide the work. I cannot do anything more complicated than that consistently.
In a group of 5, thats pairing up into 2 groups: 2 and 3. And coordinate with the lead of each group.
In a group of 30, divide into two groups and assign a lead for each group, of course you will only deal with 1 of them (but the other can easily sub). The leads are in charge of consolidating the other personnel. Those leads will then Divide their group into pairs as well and the subdivision happens again and again.
The objective is To have a Head or have a Channel that effectively Transmits or Receives all the signals of all the components. Information is Distributed and Consolidated. Feedback is consolidated by each lead. As each lead distributes information. If shit is in writing and there are references, established norms, and knowledge that can be shared for more complex ideas – this reduces the entropy and the failure odds.
Our Auditors experience with warehousing is that even when people have a list and the task is simple 1-10% of the time there is a minor error and mistake. Those add up in every interaction and level. Skill in using advanced systems (databases, writing, communication etc…) all add up to mitigate human lapse. Our brains have a framerate of 30fps – mistakes happen between frames, when RAM crashes, and uncertainty arises.
Growing up with a character with AD&D stats of 13 char with 1 follower I was always wondering at – man 13 char is so bad if it can only work with 1 other person. I think pairing is the >80% of what everyone is capable with in coordination. It shouldn’t be seen as the disadvantage but the Normal Operating Circumstance. That a 13 cha can command an ARMY, because he can divide the work with one other person and that person can divide the work with another person.
