Product Development and Process Trainer.
Two roles that are important in a Production Company when they Go Lean and are coming from the Hodgepodge systems of a Philippine Company who grew out of the Wild West of the 90’s.
Product Development.
They have a Set of Duties and problem solving skills dedicated in documenting and helping other departments document Product information. All knowledge that Adds Value and Necessary for the product – and needs to be IN the product’s File can be found. This knowledge Can allow us to really measure the product, and pro-actively decide if it really should be in a repertoire.
You can always breakdown a task by its Set up Time and its Process Time.
If you know your set up time, then you know the cost of interruption. Because every interruption means paying for that setup time again.
Every false-setup adds to the total process time of the final product. the new department I’m forming – Product Development was a set of duties exists not only to capture such information but to CHECK and give tools to help monitor the awareness of All the other participants in the process.
I think Its a department’s Job to teach other departments THEIR use and system so they can easily contribute and share information. At least to the point of having the Department’s Role, Function, and Activities accessible.
Product Development first starts with studying what is needed to get from where we are to a Product Database. After which we will assign him staff or reallocate staff to help him do this.
Process Trainer
The Process Trainer is another personnel I specially requested to help be bring others up to spec. All innovation and new methodologies are useless if we can’t train people to have the fundamental skills in appreciating them. The Trainer is also under me, but his role is helping making the Knowledge Learnable in the company. He will follow the 20rffk and help make sure the skills and methodologies of each and every department is accessible to be learned (Or accessible enough to be followed ).
I’m going to Teach a lot of things, and the Process Trainer and Me work together as a Force Multiplier in the ability to Teach to everyone everything needed, Capture Skills, and Create ways to Make skills Sustainable and Self-reinforcing.
- The PT helps Others Write all their Knowledge Down and Edits and Proof reads the knowledge
- and Also performs the Teaching needed for others to be able to write what they know down.
- He organizes and facilitates the knowledge in the Company to be Learn-able. He helps create the Skill Templates and Knowledge Inventories. He also helps create the Training Material and Tools – Which he will learn from Me and the IT.
- He will also help me Design Training materials for the Migration of some people to Linux Ubuntu and Libreoffice.
- He also teaches the basic Problem Solving Skills (all the skills surrounding Problem Solving). I work with him to Add value to the skills by making them useful and life-enriching.
