Management by Due-Diligence aka Common Sense

We have had some interesting improvements in our situation. Improvements that was sorely failing in the previous managements. It has really turned things around, but the funny thing about it is despite the great improvements I cannot take full credit… or any credit. The only difference I had from the more “experienced” and “connected” management was purely due-diligence.

We have a team with a broad range of necessary skills like finance, legal, facilities management, admin, HR etc… and the only difference I had with the previous management was I was young and inexperience enough to know my limits and never to assume. the previous management got into losing contracts, ruined the relationship with various clients and partners, and basically turned the house upside down. He was more concerned with Power, despite being very falsely amicable.  Also failing in the subtleties regarding Power (like submissive’s power over the overt, and all kinds of power that was supposed to be BASIC).

Hindsight makes me continually wonder why an answer that was clear to us, was not and difficult for this person. One would be tempted to make a character flaw analysis, of course this was easy. the many unethical practices were plenty – his verbally abusive style of firing people, faking FS reports, making so many promises that were over the top and not following through with his promises of consequences…

I realize these kinds of people make all sorts of promises, and never do it on paper. they are quick to promise resignation and failure but NEVER follow up with the promised written offer to resign. They count on people’s kindness not to call them on their bluff.

…sorry to get distracted there… but thats not it. Such people can still make things work… BUT it would realy on REAL skill in their core ability: deception and the well placed application of it. Now hot headed, sleep deprived, and with an overwhelming sense of entitlement kinda removes the cold near-sociopathic calculation and cunning needed to implement a strategy. I don’t need to go for character flaws, just competence…

I actually wish I never have to do such strategy. Cold calculation and stratagem is great, but to win real loyalty and trust needs one to really use heart at the point of vulnerability. Someone who is too calculated can rationalize too much and make everything a calculated move… Real heart gives us the courage to be honest when our cunning tells us not to be. Of course for this to be applicable, you have to know the consequences of being vulnerable before appreciating the risks of going out on a limb for someone. And a real appreciation of risk, like recently I understand that I can fail and i can be disappointed and feel stupid.

Imagining exercising Cold Strategy a lot, leads to envision a very dark and cold life. 🙁 i want to be smart enough to survive and prosper, but not to smart that I forget the simple pleasures that makes life very wonderful.

Oh yeah, and success is very temporal. I celebrate every little win for as long as the win is applicable even if it will end. Because it will end, the mortality of that win, makes it all more special. I’m young and lucky, who knows when I’ll have another good turn of events. 😛
