I’m aware of the Millenium Development Goals and some of the major projects that seek to improve the quality of life in the Philippines.
Some believe the path is through infrastructure, by getting a very productive project going. Some believe by choosing the best projects among of the current projects the Philippines is undertaken.
Interestingly enough, where I see what will cause all the dominoes to fall is through Transparency. Strangely, this is also where my Mother-in-Law is working in.
When you create transparency you CHANGE ALL THE RULES! This is Game Theory at its most helpful uses given the Philippine Situation. The way the current system works is all based on what information people act on… and Transparency Changes all that.
Information Asymmetry is at the hear to how everything works. We all act on what we can be certain of, and we change our view based on the evidence and metrics we can get our hands on. When you make a more transparent system you make the following possible:
- make everything more measurable
- you make data and understanding more accessible
- you simplify what is complicated and confusing
- you track, record and preserve data
- you level the playing field
- you create more accountability
- You create a method of improving (by being able to measure and track your progress)
