Work Update: a new beginning

So the Comfac-IT website is being developed and it will be up by next week. We will use the Cloudflare tunnel first as we figure out GLOBE’s public IP system and configure it. While Game in the Brain is “Seeing the world through Games” – understanding the world and the systems its made up of, Comfac-IT is about “developing “Democratizing Technology” making it more accessible to people so that we all rise up together using Open Source and a service model.

We will avoid SaaS and you only pay for something you use.
Also 20% (after taxes*) will go to Open Source – particularly the service requested. 10% of all services go to the Staff Handling the job as commission, with the exception of Rework or Warranty or Issues. Commissions mean the staff gets a salary + commissions. So 30% goes to Open source and staff.

*in the Philippines there is a 12% Value added Tax. Its actually a Sales tax for everything. So we sell our services currently at 2024 at 2000php/hour – without VAT. With VAT is 2,240 php per hour. Of that 2000php 200php goes to the Staff in additioin to their salary. 400php goes to the Open Source maintainer – Example Frappe, NextCloud, Netgate, iXsystems, Debian, Portainer, etc…

70% is for OPEX and all the R&D we have as we typically Self-study to add new Open Source tools to offer clients. Imagine that: A companys whose job is to help you set up Open Source Free Solution. When you pay us, part of that goes to the Open Source solution.

The website will be very interactive –

  1. All our Trainees, former OJTs, and Other Open Source Providers in the Philippines. As a way to show how competatitve-
  2. PRICES UP FRONT – you know how much you will be billed. NO PREDATORY pricing – regardless where you are in the world – Filipinos and Developed countries who avail of our services get this rate.
    • With Frappe as a partner 50% instead of 20% until we meet Gold partner status.
  3. Score board of our Donations to Opensource.
  4. We are undertaking projects for open source with schools and OJTs.

Comfac IT Mission
Our mission is to democratize technology by teaching and training individuals and businesses in the use of Open Source solutions. We believe that technology should not be the privilege of the wealthy or large corporations, but a tool accessible to every family and small business. At Comfac IT, we are committed to fostering a culture where technology is open to competition, new ideas, and rigorous scrutiny. Our goal is to empower people with knowledge about Open Source options, highlighting their trade-offs and benefits, so they can make informed decisions and truly own the technology they use. In an era where rights to repair and ownership are under threat, and everything is becoming a subscription, we stand for the right to participate, choose, and create solutions that are compatible and free from monopolistic control.
Comfac IT Vision
Comfac IT envisions a future where power is returned to the people through technology. We aspire to be part of a democratic and open community where no corporation or entity wields unchecked influence over the choices available to the public. We aim to ensure that everyone not only has physical access to technology but is also aware of the diverse options available. Our vision is to prove that a transparent and fair living can be made with Open Source solutions, fostering an environment where competition thrives and innovation flourishes. We are dedicated to being an open organization, training our staff and OJTs to the point where they could become our competitors, ensuring that our success is sustainable and rooted in creating—not limiting—options. In a landscape where the lack of options inflates prices and stifles progress, Comfac IT stands as a beacon of possibility and efficiency in the Philippines.

Prepared to Fail. I do admit seeing all the corruption and knowing I’m just OK as smarts go. I’m just copying off the notes of my Friends who are IT and Engineering professionals in the USA and teaching it here in the Philippines. I dont have any originality – I know there are smarter people and just constantly looking for their advice and studying what they do. At 45 I’m going to say – I tried to make Philippine Technology Affordable. I did the math – enough money to pay the staff well, and grow their salaries, our solutions are cheaper that everywhere else (google, microsoft, proprietary) and the best trade offs for its price.

At 45 where I lost so much of my eye sight, attention, memory, and heatlh, to get to this point where the company will invest in my idea – i’m so hollow and spent – I will open a new company hoping that we can reverse the trend of corruption is idealistic – definitely not naive because to do something like this is done with the option of perpetuating the crap everyone else has been doing.

It doesnt need to work for me – someone just has to make it work. It doesnt have to be me – hopefully someone will figure out what I did wrong and have a better solution.
