Jan 18 2015 – retreat and Circle strategy, Observations

Most of my main mistakes is my better knowledge running into a limited set of options: which was that  I knew what was the danger area and my hesitation for “re-evaluation” aka “retreat” and “reset” the battlefield.

Retreat and “Reset” the battlefield was the main lesson of the games. (Still uploading and editing videos). I knew better, my improve tactical sense already knew I was jumping into danger but I always run out of options: and the option available is not to hunker down but redeploy and reorganize the battlefield.

It was a small site, but there was the option to reorganize it. To purposely bootstrap and reorganize my thoughts and assumptions into a different and alternative strategy – and we had the endurance since the day felt like it was 20-22C.

this was an old problem. But it was revived by the recent exercise.

Observation

  • Impressions and lessons: Camo pattern matters only in 30m or less. Camo Color Tone matters more in greater distance. the wrong tone is easier to spot from a distance without cover.
  • Disruption matters – even if the pattern is not correct, it just depends on the “beat” of the combat. In Hunts which have a slower beat, it will matter if it is a correct pattern, otherwise skirmishes it doesnt matter as much.
  • The conditions the RIGHT camo to work is when the “beat” of the battle is not enough for evaluation. Basically when we wear good camo the other persons observation skills are penalized – if they take time to observe. Note that we can change the “beat” of the battle with our gun fire and movement, forcing them to take less time or in its absence take their time. A sense of urgency, can be misplaced in the battlefield.
  • Sound and Sneaking – I grew a bit of an idea what Decibel levels I am hearing. The benchmarks are thanks to a sound app and how it makes me feel, since I’m sensitive to sound to cause me nausea – so having such a benchmark, makes me able to tell more of how sound travels in the game. The snap of a twig, a good loud one is about 90dB BUT depending on how much “soft” surfaces around you it doesn’t travel so far. In forests it would travel as much as 10m depending.

Next Project is having the Sound Meter in the battle field and measuring things.
