Testing Heuristic

Trigger. Uncertainty to the Best Approach
Start in any method but keep a Short Feedback Loop. When in doubt or uncertain or Lacking information then we can go by our best guess – as long as our best guess is executed in a way that we can quickly adjust and adapt on feedback.
In a TRPG this means when the Players do something that is outside the Scope of the GM then he should stop to work on the feedback.
If we are doing something new we shorten or shrink the scope of action to allow us to adapt to emergent conditions.

Heuristic Documentation

Trigger. When forming a  Model/Heuristic to approaching a repeating circumstance
This is common sense but defined and codified its now possible to:
  1. List issues and limitations of this strategy. When we find exceptions or inconsistencies we have a place to put it down. It gives us a sense of its reliability (so we are not too optimistic about it)
  2. Reinforce it with Spaced Repetition. Whenever a situation calls for this strategy i try to recall the elaborate elements of this strategy and pull “my anki card” of this heuristic to check how much of its constraints and exceptions I’ve been able to recall and follow.
  3. Also to track deviations of our Heuristics/mental models.
  4. A place to dump revelations otherwise key thoughts are lost/
I guess this is why its better to write down our personal heuristics and recall, then test the quality of recall.
This is part of my Document as you Go core habit/conditioned response.

I’ve been doing this awhile, its an evolving process and this is how it evolved too. So i began to apply a lot of my studies in processes design and optimization.
