Portable desktop Reference Holder Prototype

My goal was to 5S my workflow. Have all the processes, references, hot-keys, techniques, notes, etc… accessible at a glance. I plan to put Gdrive Hotkeys, Functions, as well as Company Processes (for reports, project documentation,…) etc… for work. Krita and Blender Hotkeys and Workflows.

Glance vs Lookup.

To glance is about a fraction of a second. I know this from all the times I play at 60-250ping when playing insurgency or 10ping when I play with just the computer against Counterstrikes AI which is programed to have a variance reaction time of a mean average of 400ping/ms. A glance is a fraction of a second, while looking it up in google, pressing windows button in Ubuntu (bring up the hotkeys), and googling can take 1-3 seconds or minutes.

Looking up means DUMPing my current action memory cache instead

Personal Andon

When I say personal Andon I mean that system where a Production line stops to make System and Process Corrections. That means as I work I improve and add to the processs. I can stop and update my reference sheets or comment when its shit or figure out a better system.
Every 2mins where I stop rethinking to improve the process, improve my tools, and create a better system tends to have a very short Return on Investment and has brought things to a higher level of efficiency moving foward.
This also gives me the chance to hard code the techniques, procedures, and activities into my memory (using spaced repetition).

Spaced Repetition.

This is an opportunity for me to have Spaced Repetition. When my attention is focused on the task at hand I can attempt to pull a memory outside my attention. If it fails, I can glance to correct myself and

How to Make it

  1. Source Materials
    1. Trip to the Stationary Store: 20-30mins
    2. 2 Letter Sized Folders (I bought more because I have a 14″ and a 15.6″ laptop.)
    3. Clear Sheets to Folder Binders (to put the reference sheets in)
    4. A4 clear envelope to put them all as I put them away back into my back.
    5. Tools
      1. Tape
      2. Scissors
      3. Ruler or Straight Guide
      4. Target Laptop
  2. Cut the Edges of the Folders.
  3. Join two Folders end to end.
  4. Cut the top as a fold over to hang over the monitor. You will need to cut enough so that
    1. It can hang on the monitor of the laptop
    2. The fold over does not cover the monitor and waste precious screen space.
  5. Use the  extra Folder as belt to have the folders hold on to the monitor, instead of hanging loosely.
  6. Now take the Ring Binder Sheet filllers and attach them to the “Wings” so it can hold your notes.
  7. Test it out
  8. Put  them into the Plastic Envelope so you can store it along with your laptop.

I am using large Index Cards, almost Statement Size (A5). Although i can use any sheet. I just need to take time and document the hotkeys, watch the tutorials and break them down into steps and processes and into a Workflow, and update those notes as I see problems.
