Game in the Brain

Doubt as a Mental Muscle. 

As a mental muscle it means that it is exercised to detect assumptions, the quality of our conclusions, and all the fine and detailed links in a chain of reasoning that is needed to get from One point to another.

As I unclutter my Mind, the less distractions I have, the more I can see the clutter that confuses me about key topics. Clutter gets in our way, they are distractions. They are Ideas, Feelings, and Things that are not supposed to be there. There is a time and place for them, in our mental landscape, but they should not control our mental landscape – but we control that mental landscape.

My mind is still cluttered, but significantly less than before. I can feel the biases that connected bits of reasoning together. They’re not wrong or bad, they’re just there. They’re the texture of a chain made up of different materials my mind’s finger traces. They can fail and I tread cautiously.

My mind can carry so much to work on a problem. The best way to carry more is having a ton of reference materials – that includes people, with me as I map a problem out. What ever my mental load I carry only 1/3 or 1/5 less as a great amount of my attention focuses on my FORM (like in exercise, we focus on our form and try not to care about the load of the exercise). I try to get the form right and use it as an indicator of weakness, fatigue, or flaws.

Currently I know when I’m distracted, not that I can control my Distractions. I know get this anxious feeling when I’m getting distracted.

Department Objectives Fail to Understand

Is it Overreaching for me to require the “Specific Objectives” of any department that tries to lessen incidents of waste, errors, and mistakes to have an “understanding” as an Objective?
And deliverable to understand is a Process document and an FMEA? I feel that in our company and many others – we Skip the Understanding Phase (and the ability to Predict Phase) and go right into the Controlling Phase.

I know its implied but by the way we Collect and Analyze data is so underdeveloped and uncoordinated (the lack of documentation and standard analysis procedure and communication of complex ideas) that Skipping this Crucial step, the physical tangible manifestation of the step, etc… means we do Trial and Error – without ever documenting what we’ve tried or the understanding we’ve gained.

Understanding means > Evidence of Understanding > this means Data and the ability to Communicate it well.
