When my Gaming and Arts Background Helps in My job is when I need to visualize progress and analysis.
A minor example is All Projects are actually Skills. because they are all Bodies of Knowledge that needs to codified and all the kinks worked out. They are mostly theory and the practical applications and cost benefit needs to be thoroughly understood, documented, and given context.
My Biggest Problem is a Visualization of the Following:
How do I visualized the: FORECAST of Sales, against the Estimates They need to meet, against all the Barriers and Finite Capacity we have to Meet that? How do I visualize it with a sense of time? Because Forecasts are rooted in time and so are the solutions.
I want to See: Forecast against the Capacity vs the Current Load of the Capacity.
If its a GANTT then a GANTT is going to take time to Develop. Creating Visualizations take time, It took 2 years for my Personal Finances to make sense its going to take time for any PLANT”S activity to be visualized in a way people can use it for predictive and corrective actions.
GAMING and ARTS teaches me to craft the tools to make easy feedback mechanisms and to but values and measurements difficult to track Right beside each other for context.
