ANKI studies

The Anki Documentation Page was very helpful in helping me troubleshoot my problems today. The videos from the page had much clearer audio than the others, and easier to understand. Switching Card Order was much better than the results I got in youtube in clarity.

My Problems were:

1) I needed to make the Definitions be what would trigger the Terms. Not the other way around.

This problem led me to learn how to make notes. I learned that a type of Note is a universal rule. If I changed how a “Justin-Card” Note worked, then all “Justin-Card” notes in the entire system would change.

Example. If I changed the Basic Card to trigger a recall of either the Chinese Characters and its Reverse, then all the Basic Cards would change.

This problem meant I needed to learn to Change a Deck’s Card type. Going to Browse, selecting all the Cards of a Deck or Sub-deck, and then Creating a Note Type that best suited how this information should be studied.

2) I lost about 1 hour’s worth of cards.  I made a mistake of how syncing works.

I needed to be very conscious of how I sync.

I need to have an order in syncing. Saving my process and picking my battles. Sometimes I have to discard a session of progress to troubleshoot.

3) I needed a way to manage my Son’s Anki Deck and My Deck.  That profiles can only have one Email.

Things to Learn.

1) How to add Google Translate Recordings into the deck? Maybe I’ll use the Text to Speech already embedded in the Ankidroid.

2) How to make my audio files cleaner and more compressed? I think the Anki is using a WAV file which is 5x larger than an mp3 file.
