Repair Mindset.

It’s only after going down the rabbit hole of Essential Craftsman and Louis Rossman did youtube recommend me various other repair and reuse channels that have taught me that:

If it doesn’t need a Stereo Microscope and PBC soldering and repairing – it can be repaired. these would mean machining new parts.

I need to see detailed pictures of the components that has failed and it has to meet basic Scientific or Engineering principles what is the point of failure. I’ve delegated this long enough I’m been suckered so now I’m going to closely look at the details. Thankfully there is almost a Youtube for every key principle there is – if I can research low practicality rocket equations – I can research a common factory machine problem.

What’s at stake are machines costing 10-15k USD replacements vs finding and depending on repairs and parts at typically 1/10 the cost and not even 1/3-1/4 the cost in the US.

I really hate predatory actions that try to exploit my ignorance – which is why I have a bit of a trust issue when I hear signals of Bad Faith arguments.

Money that could have gone into wages than go into the pockets of FAT companies that prey on our weakness. I’d rather have the same value on wages – regular people who need the money to survive than someone who is already comfortable and ok.

Action

My experience with ISO and QMS means that the correct action is to develop a Quality Policy – Quality means objectives and goals as well. Particularly An Open Repair Quality Policy. It has the self-serving goals of reducing the cost of operations through repairs and reusing and optimizing our equipment.

That the company will prioritize giving livelihood to repair companies and freelancers over larger companies that are well to do.

Context

The Philippines has a 200usd/mo minimum wage for 48 hour work weeks. 25 year-long employees have salaries of about 400usd/mo and do up to about 20+ hours of overtime for their households when possible. Our wages are around 2usd/hour.

Very short and hard lives. almost every Christmas we reflect on the workers who died of old age and retired.

We are in the upper median of salaries for such work. We surprisingly pay better than the Japanese factors in the economic zone. Our benefits are good and leniency is better. we have union and collective bargaining agreements. We are an ISO 45,000 and 14,000 company.

My biggest vice is spending almost 40-60usd a month on Art and Cowriting work on my Cepheus Engine book I’m writing with Nicco Salonga. I don’t have “expensive” hobbies.

Even if it Requires a Zoom Binocular Stereo Microscope with Screen adaptor – it can be repaired.
