I was explaining to my son the concept of co-opted and subverted ideas. A prime example is Jesus Christ and his teachings. To many, he is charitable, compassionate, loving, humble, ascetic, and kind. To others, he is “righteous” in a way that cares only for the wealthy, violently attacks the vulnerable, represents rigid authority, and hates “the other” or “weakness.”
There are endless examples of the subversion of meanings. One of the most common today is the definition and history of “Woke.” A term I recently learned is “Fox-pilled”—when people consume so much propaganda that meanings are completely inverted. You can use it the way people on Fox News use it, or you can use it within its actual historical context. My god, the “political correctness” of some history buffs is exhausting.

We live in a world of Semantic Inversion—where things are named the opposite of what they are to trick the public:
- The Greenland/Iceland Paradox: One of the oldest “marketing” subversions in history. They named the icy wasteland “Greenland” to attract settlers and the lush, green island “Iceland” to keep people away.
- The Prosperity Gospel: This subverts Christianity by turning it into a money-making Multi-Level Marketing (MLM) scheme. It replaces “it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God” with the idea that wealth is a sign of God’s favor.
- The “Banana Republics” & Pinochet: The CIA used the pretext of “protecting democracy” to overthrow democratically elected leaders (like Allende in Chile) and install puppets like Pinochet to protect the profits of corporations like United Fruit.
- The 1898 “Mock Battle of Manila”: To prevent Philippine Revolutionaries from rightfully taking their own capital, the USA and Spain staged a fake battle so Spain could “surrender” to the Americans instead of the “inferior” Filipinos.
- The Spanish-American War Pretext: The sinking of the USS Maine was used as a “False Flag” (“Remember the Maine, to Hell with Spain!”) to launch an imperialist land grab.
- The Middle East & Iran: In 1953, the US/UK (Operation Ajax) overthrew Iran’s secular democracy to control their oil, destabilizing the region for decades while claiming to be “freedom fighters.”
- The Weaponization of “Terrorist”: The term “Terrorist” has become a catch-all for anyone the state or media disagrees with. We see peaceful ICE protesters or civil rights advocates labeled as “professional agitators” or “terrorist sympathizers.” By stripping these people of their status as citizens with grievances, the subverter justifies the use of violence against them.
- WMDs in Iraq: We were told there were “Weapons of Mass Destruction” to justify a trillion-dollar invasion. It was a pretext for regime change and resource control.
- Domestic Subversion (FBI/CIA): The infiltration of the Civil Rights movement via COINTELPRO, where the government tried to destroy MLK Jr. and the Black Panthers from within—which has since been declassified.
Calling it What it Is: The Language of the Fraud
People often struggle to call out those who subvert Christianity or progressive ideals because the subverters use “holy” or “virtuous” language. But we already have the words for this.
If someone uses Jesus’s name to hoard wealth and ignore the poor, they aren’t “conservative”—they are a Fraud and a Scammer. If someone uses “progressive” or “woke” language to enrich themselves while stepping over the vulnerable, they aren’t “activists”—they are Fakes and Sophists.
The “Red Scare” taught people to be afraid of words like “Socialist” or “Marxist” without ever teaching them what those philosophies actually mean. It created a world where people are more afraid of a label than they are of the actual Lying and Subversion happening in front of them. Understanding the world requires you to actually know the history of other cultures, other people, and other circumstances—otherwise, you’re just another victim of the hack.
Before our eyes, propaganda is in the making. Our language is being hijacked. It’s the Orwellian reality: War is Peace, Freedom is Slavery, Ignorance is Strength.
