Portainer and Docker has made this really easy. Of course having a Synology NAS has made it even more easy to back it all up and do it all again. then of course there is AI helping me understand things – helping me go through long threads and discussions to help me find what I’m looking for.
So finally I can set up my Wiki – the wiki is still WIP. The goals are the following:
1) My income is from MAKING the technology and tools – it WILL be godot, progressive web apps and web-based apps for World builders, Ship Generators, and 3D printable assets or Figurine generators. I want to shift to a business model that lets Patrons FUND me – project managing the creation of Tools which will then be Free and Open source and hosted here. People get used to building Common Good that is non-exclusive. I only make money from people who commission they want something done and they like how I do things – if there is no need for me anymore someone can easily take all the open source CC-by-sa and make an IP people will like.
2) A wiki for the Mechanics and Rules. Ideally I figure out the PDF generator extension and this creates Book quality material for easy publishing and sharing.
3) Primarily the Open Source Scifi Setting will be the first setting out. Particularly a “speculative” look at how the future will turn out. The WIKI will allow me to version it as new Technology changes how things turn out. Its a Timeline + links to the specific Technology and Cepheus Engine mechanics and Story telling notes how these Elements figure in a game and story. the wiki will be important as there will be a lot of Science and math that I will reference.
4) Mahadlika – 19C Philippine Alternate History, the First Crusade, Fall of Rome, and the Warring States (5C BCE China) will be the other settings will also be hosted here – when I have the time.
The WordPress Blog is engaging with Game in the Brain and getting to know us. Working with us making Open Source TRPG stuff – that’s better with MediaWiki – because there are all these tools for that.
The Extensions the current Wikipedia uses can be found here https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special:Version I’m going to study it. I’m particularly focused in the elements that speed up the workflow: Image or Media Management (currently its manual – I have to copy paste images in the server’s folders Unlike WordPress which has a built in Media manager), and of Course Mind-maps and Diagrams. 3D is hopefully something that would work – as I plan to make a simple 3D Diagram Model of the Nearby Stars.
