Learning the Different College Courses based on the Internship

So I’m talking to Universities and Learning more about their Courses and the Internship requirements of their students. What I typically offer is the following: 

  1. Biz Admin
    1. How I document – write minutes (using the Getting things Done Methodology of David Allen – specifically the VERB action + Criteria method). Basically most people cannot think in ACtions and thus when they encounter problems they fail to : 
      1. Perform Due Diligence, Research
      2. Escalate 
      3. Document Observations and problems 
      4. Account for delays and additional requirements 
    2. How I organize and Systemize – Bullets, Parent-Child or Tree Systems, Hyperlinks and Use of Tables for Information Management. 
      1. using Date Codes YYMMDD 
      2. Creating Charters 
      3. Creating Log Entries – Top for the most recent
    3. Inquiry, Investigation, Auditing, and Observation Skills. Conditioning to think in 5Y, 5WH, Antipatterns Recognition, 
    4. Understanding of Quality Management and PMBOK principles. 
    5. Biz Process Management
      1. How to Juggle Workarounds 
      2. Identifying Rework / Failure of Duties and Responsibilities (assignment as well as recognizing, or discovering unassigned duties)
      3. Corrective Action and Preventive Actions 
      4. Designing Processes  
    6. Bayesian Thinking – probabilistic thinking. Imagine each action not as a monolithic action but as branching probabilities (probability tables like Encounter Tables in TRPGs). This is important in planning for the unexpected – thinking of success, partial success/failure, and failure and what will we do when a step happens. 
  2.  Emotional Intelligence Skills. 
    1. Communication – The use of writing and Active listening skills. 
    2. looking for Self Interest – and what is attractive to Stakeholders. Typically making the job easier or more rewarding. Grounding plans on Self Interest. What will get this person to agree? What is the Win-Win? 
  3. Industry Experience: 
    1. What really happens in real business Operations?
    2. What should be happening in real business Operations?
    3. Why there is a Deviation and Anti-Patterns (Feeding back into EQ and Admin skills). 
    4. Pay and how Salaries Work and are Optimized. 
  4. Use of Industry Tools 
    1. Google Drive and Docs practices. 
    2. ERPnext – an Enterprise Resource Planning Tool that is open source and free – and how any business can be configured to use this. This is highly valued because its most dominant comparison SAP is worth millions of pesos to implement – Philippine companies who have people who can help implement this save millions of pesos and Increase the automation in their organization.
