Risks and Reality – Distrust and Miscommunication. 5Y analysis

Pandemics are not just Foreseeable, you cannot make people act on it unless they’ve experienced it. Anything too scary to be unimaginable – is too difficult to communicate.

To appreciate this (being the one who raised RISKS and ignored)- you’d have to do the implementation role, you were the one given a lot of constraints by someone who has no appreciation of your condition and limits, it is 90% a one-way communication (where the 10% is confirming you received the instruction). You’re the one who had problems in implementing from previous other tasks and responsibilities – because of the many problems and issues that tend to happen. You’re the one who had to do Over-Time or draw from your personal reserves to FIX the problem. You’ve seen other resources that could have gone to managing the risk in your responsibilities wasted and you had no say.

Either you’ve grown callous and disheartened and distracted from previous failures, or mastered creating ambiguous conditions where no one knows what has happened to every pin you to the problem. Either way, you know the REALITY that no one will entertain RISKS until the problem happens.

When I do a 5Y regarding this:

  1. Why are Sponsors unable to accept risks?
    1. Q: How can you say the Sponsors cannot accept risk?
    2. A: Its one-way communication, they have a particular budget in mind and no negotiation around it. Its easier to give orders than to take on the uncertainty of many other coordinating parties.
  2. Because they don’t know their Limits and Resources. Why don’t they know their Limits and Resources?
    1. Q: How can you say they know their limits and Resources and what proves that?
    2. A: Because if they knew then they can be More Specific about Objectives and goals. If they knew the resources and the problem then they can form more “Economic” solutions that fit the need.
  3. Because their system is ad-hoc and not systematized. Why can’t they systematize their Limits and Resources?
    1. Q: How do you know its Ad-hoc or Unsystematic?
    2. A: Because only They Understand it. If only One Person can understand it or perform it, it’s not a SYSTEM meant for other people to attempt it. It probably changes on the fly so the factors always changing and thus there are no controls to these systems.
  4. Because they don’t trust anyone with that Information. Why can’t they trust anyone with the System and Information?
    1. Q: How do you know they can’t trust that information?
    2. A: Because of trusts anyone how they make their money – it’s a societal fact.
  5. Because they don’t know what they need and can live with (not limited to the business but as a Whole; consider the Business Leaders and then the Leader’s own needs outside the sphere of the business). Why don’t they know their needs and requirements?
    1. Q: How do you know it’s their needs as People and not just as Leaders?
    2. A: Because if they knew what they needed as People – then they’re pretty much set – they can make any decisions without much uncertainty. This is the Question most religions and Motivational Charismatics try to answer so answering this is really hard.
      1. Information and Systems to inform decision making is in our PERSONALITY and not just our skills. Even how we treat our skills is based on our personality – our beliefs and experiences.
  6. Because this is the limit of what people know. If this is the limit of what People Know – how do we proceed?
  7. We proceed with Project Management and Mindfulness: two systems designed for Uncertainty (PM) and Being Present (Mindfulness).
