Skills of our Customized Department

So I’ve been watching Essential Craftsman and Mat Risingler as well as other trade videos.
I’ve simplified the skillsets of our Customized Installer Department.
What is “Customized”?
It’s our internal description of any Wood Furniture or Joineries. They typically make:
  1. Cabinetry and Shelves,
    1. either free standing
    2. wall mounted
    3. and various Sizes and Scales. From small to whole walls, and able to take on hundreds of pounds of load.
    4. Mobile Pedestal Drawers
  2. Executive or Conference room Tables.
  3. Reception Desks
  4. Trellis for Lattice work.
  5. Sofa’s and other Seating, including ottomans
  6. We can but have little practice of residential furniture like beds.

If its made up of Wooden boards or Bars then we can make that. If it has larger metallic or plastic moving parts, that’s usually beyond our sourcing capabilities. Adjustable Standing Tables because of their moving parts are beyond that department and because I have bigger challenges to tackle..
These are what Customized Production does, Customized Installer implements in the Job site. Since there is a lot of Variance and Differing conditions these are really more challenging skillsets.
If you’re wondering why I’m not looking for suppliers to complement our woodworking or formalizing our Skillset. These moments of lucidity happens in between a torrent of firefighting because we are a company not Oriented with the Data of the Project Management Office.

The entire Conduction of our Construction and Manaufacturing Company should be in Project Management – cashflow, financing, its pacing, its deadlines, its Timelines, its WIP, prioritization, etc… all draw from a fairly accurate and Evidence based Project management plan.

It looks like Common sense, but we are a PROJECT-BASED organization. We don’t have 1-year contracts/Sales Orders/Job Orders. We have 3-4 month Projects of Uncertain Origin. Its common sense if you studied Management Engineering, but if you rely on Pre Quality or Pre Engineering Business Models (A lot of Traditional Mom and Pop stores) then this does not make sense.

Since thats beyond my authority I’m going around it with a slow and indirect set of IT projects where by I try to have IT systems gather data that should be in the Project Management Plans. I’m pessimistic of the time and opportunity to move the company towards Evidence Based Decision making, but I will keep doing my job. Mindfulness and CBT help me cope with the Learning New things what we should do, but my inability to Communicate it effectively as to orient the company.

This is separate from our System Furniture which is short to describe Cubicles and other types of Modular furniture with interchangeable parts.

Customized Installer and Production Personnel.

There are two groups under Customized and its Production and Installers. Production skills are focused more on handling the tools in the plant.
  1. Assembly. The skill of knowing what pieces go to where. This is the primary skill of a Customized Installer. He should be familiar where pieces go, and intimately familiar in Quality Methods since its easier to damage the furniture
    1. Leveling
    2. Tools Use
    3. Planning assembly – seeing the plans/designs, and improvising when they get to the site and manage the deviation from the Plans/designs.
    4. Minor Modifications of the Furniture.
  2. Minor Painting and Varnishing, Retouching
  3. Civil Works: Mounting on Walls and Ceilings.

2018 pictures I can find in my album

Customized is in the Far back, System Furniture is the one we mostly see.

I’m the type of person that is pessimistic if the organization is not going my way, which is kinda short sighted. There are many things I want to change, like: how we pace ourselves, Where we get leads, Where we apply resources. I’m always looking at the worse case and from there drawback to look at likely systemic failure. The exercise requires me to have more CBT and Mindfulness skills as it drains me and leaves me in this state of WRITING more than I should in order to process my fears.
i guess I expressed these all in my Traveler Character 贾 where I played a Traumatized merchant who lost everything in Mark’s game. I got to really express my sadness in that character and the adventures were a kind of second life and chance the character can find. I do believe after my family business all this experience and the ability to work with severe constraints is pointless. I believe most business owners are Warlocks of Moloch – with so much power but actually under the control of an irrational and insatiable god. They feel powerful, but they are really not. That everyone they influence are influenced by that insatiable god. Especially the “Titans” of the Industry.
Where I believe I have a future is in the adventure of Taiwan and China and the Philippines. Where my set of skills allows parties from these countries to find a mutual advantage. But having a World Builder’s Skillset, aware of Economic Implications of certain Activities I make an ethical set of decisions in how it will shape our economies. Having no patron or dark pact, serving as a Broker and facilitator. Providing the service of Valuation and Due Diligence.
