Say stupid things More Often. Roles and Responsibilities.

Say stupid things More Often.

There are biases when I rant. But they’re exposed and plain and communicated. When it just inside my head, I can’t sort it or find it or understand it. Saying something stupid, out loud, or to someone changes the thought itself. The way we realize its stupid when we say it out loud is when I realized I should be saying more stupid things more often, or Else I end up with dumb stuff inside me not knowing any better. I’ve been betrayed by thoughts too often.

Of course, the drawback people will have a terrible opinion of me (Asian culture is very appearance oriented) and will evaluate my thoughts (I get that a lot since I work for my mother). Still, my slow wit needs the problem very visible and available for the rest of my brain can engage the issue.

There is a fragility in a culture of saving face when one’s world can crumble down for having a very human and common flaw. Mainly when the management of the weakness is hiding it and not having it more visible for correction or management. The fragility that reminds me of being in a developing world – where there are no safety nets.

Roles and Responsibilities.

Roles and Responsibilities are what make a System. Defined and Aligned properly people work together to create flow and throughput. Undefined we have conflict and broken system.

One of those weird things. The company website is under IT because its “Technology” but the marketing-assistant is under sales. By Website being under IT – that has not been defined. I’m sure you can imagine how many different ways being “Under” or “responsible” something can be under a person. Example. You give your kid a Tablet – what is he/she “responsible” for regarding the device. Can they install any app? Can they buy things with it? What changes and controls are kids allowed on devices etc…?

I hate that I’m considered annoying when I want clarity and want to use standard Definitions.
Maintenance was under me in the Plant. Before the Maintenance got soo busy (and right now I am “too busy” – I have not organized my work into a Kanban to separate what kind of jobs there and how to prioritize) I wanted to define:

  1. What was under Maintenance,
  2. What was Under the Supplier (as for Warranty), and
  3. What was under the End-User (Department using the Machine).

Under 7.1 in ISO 9k is that Resources have to be Defined, and in 8.4.1 in ISO 9k Products and Services of External Parties have to be Defined. 8.1 to 8.5 requires any Service (even internal services like IT, HR, Maintenance, Admin) would be ideally defined.

The other week people made a Request for Payment to a Department of Coordinators instead of the Accounting department (who holds all the checks for the issue), and I hated the method of correction was an inconsistent nonfactual verbal correction and not a reference to an authorized Policy.
I know I’m the asshole If I don’t bring up this up with the smoothness of a master manipulator, instead of merely correcting this systematically (Issue an updated Department Charter and note it there).
