Measurable and Planned Action is like magic sometimes.
Its something replica-table and sustainable.
I look back at all the tasks that failed and the complexity that actually would have gone to prepare a task to be successful consistently.
Then a simple task like Coordinating with a Supplier or with Someone and making sure they understand and being able to tell if the “influence” or the action will succeed.
Its mundane magic – its looking at something so mundane and seeing all the complication that happens underneath.
The uncertainties and the areas of control (what we can control, and what the other person can or cant control).
The magic that Action is something we can control – and Challenges are those Action that we have only partial control.
Writing something is something I can control. How someone interprets my writing, is out of my control And yet I can perform certain actions to make it more likely.
In PMBOK there was Actions that Enhance Success. A category of actions that would increase the success rate of an Challenges where we had only limited control over.
Its interesting because the Success-Enhancing actions can have Economies of Scale and Improved Efficiencies when it is planned and objective.
TRPGs kinda gave me the appreciation of ABILITIES and ACTIONS and being able to distinguish what they are and their nuances. I wish this wouldnt be so Out of Topic in TRPG discussions. Because its amazing how the Mental Models we get from TRPG feedback with Reality and someone with less processing power can better follow a complex situation with Aids like: Processes, Documentation, and Preparation.
