What kind of Content Do you expect from a Linux/Open Source/Ubuntu Youtube Channel?
What Content would I expect from a Ubuntu or Open Source Youtube Channel?
1) Review of Tutorials. They will get 2-3 of the top Tutorials of a Given topic and give feedback about their strengths and weaknesses. They will cover some key parts that was not covered in the tutorials.
1.1) With a clear understanding of the DIY aspect of Open Source, it works to prepare people in mindset about trying and possibly failing (and trying again) from the Mistakes. To treat it as an adventure and as an enriching experience.
2) Workflow Optimization and Kaizen. Features personal productivity hacks on the Desktop workflow and how they are done. It can take the form of Review of Tutorials. It can approach it piece meal – a Workflow or Skill, and how other people perform the skill on the desktop.
2.1) Expecting Scrumm or Project Management Skills as well as Data Analysis on the desktop.
2.2) Spelling out Challenges and how long it takes to learn something. A handy list, link to the Relevant Document in the Youtube Description.
2.3) Sometimes its Experts looking at Workflow and giving Constructive Critique – why this method and why not that. Why experience is necessary to appreciate workflows.
3) DIY, Home Hacks, with the Technology. Takes mostly from the Form of the Review of Tutorials
4) Ubuntu, Linux, and Open Source News. Featuring prominent Open Source software like Calibre, VLC, Libreoffice, etc… This includes interviews of Experts and Begins with a Wiki or a Open Document where all discussion Factors/Facts can be in one Place.
5) Featuring Open source or Living Communities. Where they keep living documentation of current open source technology and Support. this typically is multi-part dives into communities and how they are used or participated. Why would you participate with this community etc…
6) Features White Papers related to Open Source and Giving the Basic Summary and how this applies to a regular person or company out there. Helping people appreciate the work that goes into Making Such White Papers and what they had to do to create it or present that data.
6.1) If White Papers are Open to feedback and a Living Document that is trying to Improve itself.
6.2) Features experts that Use Linux and the Challenges they face
How is it Supported
1) Established Users support the Site via patreon or youtube’s Patron option so that people can do this partially or full time.
2) Manages and Works with Open Contribution – gives a format and feedback about serious contributors.
Expectation:
1) A Manager or practicioner who is migrating or testing the waters of this full time. His/Her Strengths is connecting with communities and making the knowledge accessible – helping people understand how this skill is used and what for. He’s able to coordinate with a team and create a clear Information product for presentation.
1.1) a clarifying voice- that helps people prioritize the information. At the end of a clip or show the crowd has a clear take away and what is it? Example – People would say or think “I can use this” or “I can do this”
1.2) a year to grow the channel, developing clarity, voice, and ability to Map the skills and Topics as it relates to everything Else.
2) A team that both donates and paid for the time. They get credit and featured.
3) Video Editing and Quality. 4-10 minutes. broken up into small segments, and always summarized for the busy viewer. Inspiration is typically Extra Credit and how they present data very densly.
3.1) Dense or Over Information is broken and Spun-off to another project or complimentary project.
Example Work:
1) Breakdown of Linux or Ubuntu migration. How some people migrated to Linux and Why. What are the pros and cons of their system. What are the skills they had to learn and how it is different if not better from their workflow.
2) Featured Tutorials of the Same Topic. Example Making Desktop recordings in Ubuntu and documentation basics. Contributing to the Site, and making it easier for the Channel to work with them.
3) Personal Productivity. Trouble Shooting Workflow or Self Sufficiency in Linux/Ubuntu.
