Experience with a Heart Rate Monitor

I very much appreciate heart rate monitors to the point that I started searching in Aliexpress where I can get a hold of one to compare with my own. I’ve gotten the Fitbit Charge HR and I’m planning to buy a Chinese one during the 11.11 sale.

Anyway so far I realized the following:

  • Running 6kph with a 15lb rig, at 4.0 incline, gets me to 130-140bpm
  • Running 7-8kph with the same rig and incline is at 150-160bpm
  • the Lifehacker 7 min HIT workout (whichis actually 10 min long) is 100bpm to 120-130 max, at the end.

it basically tells me from the Heart Rate Zone Training that If I want to lose fat I can do the HIT. Pushups, Chair dips, Pull Ups, and various other exercises cant push my heart to 130+, so I basically just burn fat in such exercises. Of course the more intense (and more resistance) I put the harder I can push and the stronger the result should be.

Heart Rate Monitor Alternatives

There are two to choose from:

  • The Jw86 . A fitbit copy cat, the way SJCam copies Gopro. Its not that bad to copy, its just cheaper for us (at 38usd in the 11.11 sale).
  • SKMIE Watch. In my quick research it seems its an Indian Brand, but no Philippine reseller. I dont mind paying 1000php or 25usd if this watch has support, even if its Heart Rate monitor is up to 20% off from my fitbit.

With buying such things in the Philippines the amount you will spend is always a gamble because there is a 80% chance it will get stolen if its valuable enough. I’ve had my aliexpress postage opened when I got it, good thing they’re near worthless to other people (like RPG dice).

If its good I’ll get some to give as gifts. There is one that is 14usd but 12usd during the sale.
