CTO vs 4 opfors, including myself.

First time to use my WE AK74NU. A GBBR ak carbine I bought of the Dulays. Holy crap it was accurate, how accurate was revealed by the game. Defending Warehouse 1, I and others took on CTO.

When the assault began, I spotted Wilz and Noel move to cover. I was not sure who else was there. Anyway, I can hear in the Radio that they were moving back around. I called these out to my allies but none responded… it seems they expected me to sit on my ass as CTO attacked.

Engaging Wilz was my first test of accuracy. When we exchanged fire, I could hear the BBs spread. I only realized now, while writing this, he had not zeroed the gun and no wonder he could not give effective suppression. So with my more accurate gun despite taking very good cover the smallest space that was visible was an challenging hit. 1 out 4 single fire shots and I was able to hit the mark.

When he was gone, I took the initiate again and tried to move. Thats when I encountered richard and saw the opportunity: when someone reacts against suppression SEIZE IT -” They Acted on the supression while I act to get a better aim and control” Richard was pretty good and defended against my attack but was taken out by the opfor as they have moved to warehouse 2.

That was another opening I learned to see. There is a shift in the organization and the allocation of defense: “SEIZE THAT!” was what a part of me screamed – like the memory of all these opportunities I failed to capitalize told me. So I did and when I encountered Noel I fired first trying to see if I can control the battle. I knew his gun was much like mine and it would be 50/50 unless by chance I was able to take the initiative. When he defended, I learned to attack again (like the skirmishes Gman and I had in Sittiing Ducks)  – it is harder to take aim from an unready position when the other guy has aim and can take a shot to force the unready person to Abort and Defend.

After taking Noel out I charged in. Insurgency conditioning kicked in when I scanned the room: Scan thoroughly but if you fail on the first hint RUN LIKE HELL for cover away from your blind sides.
Clearing the room needed me to be thorough and efficient, I realized the difference from my previous room clearings was the hesitation that tied me up in knots. I cleared it quickly and single mindedly – hoping that I moved fast enough to take cover if I made a mistake – to my surprise it was cleared.

Game 02 CTO defends 8 vs 17
Basically we successfully defended. On hindsight, we should have had the MGers a chance to Zero their use of the MG and the use of Aggressive Suppression. Meaniing – the MGer will control the situation with supression and verbally shout out to the other gunners which target to take out.

Game 03. CTO & Republica vs Stalker.
Capture the Canister. First time to take lead of the Scout Section, thankfully Insurgency and Playing with strangers got me used to giving directions and communicating. I normally use the radio alot coordinating and sharing my intentions with Allies so I tried to see how that style that grew out of it worked with the scout section.

We needed practice, which first times always reveal. Particularly coordination and the types of Approaches. Approaches are by Priority or Economics of Attention: there is Stealth, Guard, and Speed!

Guarded means to approach with guns aimed and ready scanning the terrain. It can be mixed in with the others but it will slow the scouts down. Stealth and Speed is simple: Stealth is a low stance and profile, while Speed is self explanatory. In all modes of approach everything expected BUT some will priority over others.

When I prioritize Speed and/or Stealth: then I, or Overwatch, should be their eyes. That means using distance as my defense and really scan where the player is going and warn him of any danger.

Game 01 Scout Section Speedball.
The Scouts should be fast and coordinated. Fire and Manuever like clock work. Since we are still getting used to each other I charged in, they say its better to lead by example. So I did and we advaned very fast. When a portion collapsed in the other sides defense, there is no waiting or defense: allocate as much offensive capabillity as to be its own defense. Louie got me but we won with only myself as causality (I do note Gman will count getting the leader killed as failure).

Game 02 Scouts Speedball.

My regret is that I have to organize who becomes takes command when I get shot, this would be richard, and that they should coordinate. When someone tried to flank wilz, Richard saw but he didn’t communicate to wilz. Its ok, we just became a section very recently.

Game 04

  • Gives us insight as to what happens if you tolerate and keep playing with people who have different values as yourself.
  • Edwin and Nestor kept telling me to radio the guys where the opfor’s vulnerable flanks are – you can imagine what this means. They pressed me 3x so I removed my radio and tried to say as nicely as possible CTO does not do such things. “sir di kami ganyan” jokingly.
  • Go to the first bullet point and think about all the other implications of what was said means and what just happened.
