Why can’t our skill stay sharp, our bodies fit, and our lives busy with important things? Its annoying that the answer to why we degrade when we have the potential for greatness is “Equilibirum”. A body seeks to equilibrium, in a way that it seeks to perform optimally in a given environment.
the Body and Mind wants to conserve energy and resources, even if “not conserving” gives it a survival edge and potential to grow and flourish. This is another accidental remnant of evolution, allowing us to survive periods of famine.
The pain I have to endure working out, working, studying, and attempting to learn new skills at 34 going on 35 is a barrier that I’m trying to game. There is that physical limitation of our bodies trying to work towards an equilibrium… and the only way to game it is to use Cognitive Adaption: Conditioning my Mindset.
CA is used by putting one’s self in a higher standard or being around better people with better habits and standards. With the internet I’m aware of so many people better than me, and I can virtually keep tabs on their process and progress. So I try to make myself their Peer (emphasis on TRY) by adapting to their much higher standard and expectation.
Its such a simple and common sense solution… “be around better people” but if there are so many “Simple solutions” how does one find the best for themselves (so this does not work for everyone; for me it might). Its not just being around better people, its people with the right attitude and energy. I cannot keep up with a younger person or more enthusiastic person but I can still be motivated by their hard work and energy.
CA I guess is a great strategy if my Interapersonal Intelligence and Empathy can work as tools to help me move towards a particular state of mind. Its this “New Equilibrium” of being in a much higher standard that helps fight against the gravity of obsoletion.
Obsoletion, is the final end of equilibrium in a world that keeps moving forward. I don’t mind moving forward, even if its costs are great and it may sound hopeless. growth is what allows people to rise out of poverty and experience a more secure and happier quality of life. I don’t want to wish to rob people of the opportunity to grow and rise, as I want the same opportunity for myself.
Which, brings me to the “rights” elements to education and augmentation. the definition of subsistence and living has Changed with the times – in pre-history it was a place to hunt and gather food, medieval times it was a farm and profession, now its the ability to continuously adapt to the changes. It does not end with “Learning to Fish” its learning to learn anything.
Because a State has the power to make demands and leverage economies of scale, it has the responsibility to use this to benefit its people… in a circumstance it should give people the power to adapt and overcome obsoletion (which is death) if all other considerations are met.
