I am going to start rebuilding my Resume. I plan to put in it what I would be looking for if I needed a trouble shooter.
Rebuilding a company’s IT from the ground up looks great on paper. Turning around such a massively mismanaged company shows a level of challenge that very very few people ever experience. One is that people much smarter quit… on the other hand if you saw the degree of mismanagement and the human tragedy, emotions have a tendency to knock down a few IQ points.
We have enough skills to operate day-to-day but not enough to know what we are doing with troubleshooting. It is a herculean task, and even with all the talent money can buy (and being mismanaged means you don’t have a lot of money lying around) it still takes a lot of work to get anything done. So we are rebuilding ourselves, and given how badly the company is hit we have to be extra objective and critical of what decisions we make.
So now I’m figuring out what my Resume should say, and what I’m beginning to see is what I’ve discovered only recently and that long long journey of figuring a ton of other things out at a level so certain and comprehensive it can gives as much head ache as it takes to make it.
I’ve begun identifying skills, so i’ve come to use that same gamer-habit of detailed skill inventorying I learned in GURPS to a whole new level. This time i realized that the skill that we are so used to be identifying so abstractly can be very very tangible, testable, and measurable.
I have a lot to fill my resume, but it can be very cluttered with the use of very precise description of skills. I may not have a lot of experience, but I make up for it with the Geek Trick memory (the ability of geeks to memorize huge amounts to “trivial” data) describing skills in very precise detail showing a level of expertise and detail-oriented approach to matters.
My training began when an old family friend of my parents came in to help the our ailing family business. Two months later my professional life started when my former boss, my mom’s second in command, stabbed my family in the back and mismanaged the company super badly at about a couple hundered million of pesos.
I’m so freaking behind, but what I’m doing is so freaking epic. To bad is killing me, really killing me.
