Buying things as a Coping Mechanism
Retail therapy is not sustainable in the long run.
We have some hoarding in the family.
I realize my family’s neurosis requires a lot of Coping Skills (Now that I learned CBT has the encyclopedia of coping skills I can search and use, and combined with troubleshooting and problem solving it becomes even more powerful).
I have to be patient because – really the level of education is really limited as a household and family becomes more educated and science literate.
What middle class developed world people take for-granted (and now re-experiences with anti-intellectual movements) is what we struggled with.
- Letting Go,
- Gratefulness, and
- Pull System (Lean Manufacturing/TPS) all help make for a sustainable amount of material belongings.
Breadth of Knowledge and Specialization: Know all the different ways of doing things, but learn only the skills that you use a lot.
You do need to know all the skills and processes available to see what is right for you and your circumstance.
In the end of the day most people master a narrow set of skills, but these skills may be more flexible in more circumstances OR gets something very valuable or useful done that many other things are cheaply exchanged for. And people have one or two of such skills and a range of other skills that have the value or range of scope attributes.
I’m mentioning this because I notice some people never exchange or update their skills.
When there was a problem they get really defensive and have no solution. Worse is that they really have no action. Recurring problems affect everything not just that project: the additional time and resource it takes affects all other projects.
That’s why we also have Teams of a diverse set of skills with Core skills that increase the teams capacity in one area :
My team is good in processes, quality and teaching.
Another team is well versed in the situation via viber but I’d rather have a system for that than have them try to memorize every varied project circumstances than projects following a formula.
Currently I realized my experience problem solving has given me some intuition on how long each task is. It’s reinforced by Journaling the tasks.
Since Competent and Considerate it is so rare, maybe it should be a Super Power
Its weird that all the work experience and observing the real world makes me think differently of what a “super power” means. In a comic book or fiction super powers are unusual abilities outside the bell curve.
When I see good work, studiousness, and Empathy as a superpower lolz. It has some tangible benefits and effects. It has some draw backs of course.
It can be used to make people’s lives better and there are villains in the story.
In CBT there is an discipline of gratefulness, that enhances one’s quality of life. And with that perspective we appreciate real and tangible improvements.
Because of “writing non fiction studies” and Re-framing, relating and repeat I can feel like one can narrate a mundane thing like being a good competent person into a superpower that would be engaging to most people.
“Any interviewer that brags about the “family” atmosphere at work or puts too much emphasis on the “culture”. We work really hard but we’re like family … so it’s totally ok if we take advantage of you?”
Our company does this too. I would rather be known for setting boundaries and a clear and consistent code of conduct.
Why the IT Cannot Watch People Work as a Function.
- How much Hours will the IT spend?
- Where will they Focus on?
- What is their Authority? What should they do?
- What if they’re wrong?
- What if they’re Right? what are the consequences?
- Why are they doing the Managements Job?
