Here is the way of installing the Pinyin Keyboard for my notebook.
This is based off steffan’s steps but this is how it turned out for me.
Step 1
Install Flexible Input Method Framework aka fcitx
sudo apt-get install fcitx
Step 2
Install fcitx-sunpinyin
sudo apt-get install fcitx-sunpinyin
Step 3
reboot
Step 4
in terminal:
-
im-config
- Say Yes to update
- Then choose fcitx
Step 5
Look for the keyboard icon in Panel 0
Test to see if the Global Settings work by opening a word processor and using Ctrl+Space to switch to the sunpinyin keyboard. This should put the sunpin symbol where the keyboard was.
this is how I got to install mine.
